What Makes an Epoxy Bros Floor Different

Most failed epoxy floors in the Northeast share the same root causes: poor surface preparation, no moisture vapor barrier, and bargain water-based resins that cannot bond to concrete. We solve all three. Every project begins with diamond grinding to expose fresh aggregate, followed by structural polyurea repair on cracks and spalls, then a 16-pound moisture vapor barrier primer that locks out hydrostatic pressure from the slab. Only then do we apply our 100% solids basecoat at 15–20 mil thickness, broadcast your decorative flake or metallic pigment, and finish with a UV-stable polyaspartic or polyurethane topcoat. The completed system is chemically bonded to the concrete, resists hot tire pickup, gasoline, oil, salt, and household chemicals, and looks showroom-new for fifteen to twenty years.

Every project begins with diamond grinding to a CSP-3 concrete surface profile. We mechanically expose fresh aggregate so the resin can chemically bond to the slab, rather than acid-etching, which leaves a contaminated surface that almost always fails. Cracks and spalls are routed and filled with structural polyurea. Oil-saturated zones are decontaminated and primed with an encapsulating epoxy. Then we apply a 16-pound moisture vapor barrier — a non-negotiable step in New England, where slabs constantly push hydrostatic pressure up from the soil. Without it, even the best resin will delaminate from the bottom up within a few seasons.

Once the slab is properly prepared and primed, we install a 100% solids epoxy basecoat at 15 to 20 mil thickness. That is three to five times thicker than the water-based garage kits sold at big-box stores, which dry to barely 3 mil. Into the wet basecoat we broadcast your decorative finish — vinyl flakes for slip-resistant flake floors, ceramic-coated quartz for heavy-duty quartz systems, or pure metallic pigments suspended in clear resin for stunning metallic epoxy finishes. The next morning we scrape and vacuum any loose aggregate, then top the floor with a UV-stable polyaspartic or polyurethane topcoat at 5 to 12 mil. The completed system resists hot tire pickup, gasoline, brake fluid, road salt, oils, and household chemicals, and looks showroom-new for fifteen to twenty years.
